| Cooking with Essential Oils |
Young Living Essential Oils are excellent flavor enhancers and because they are so highly concentrated most recipes only need one to two drops of oil to produce the same flavor of as much as one to two ounces of dried herbs.
When using oil as a flavor enhancer the oil should be added to the food after the cooking is complete. Simply stir one to two drops of oil into your dish just before serving; this will prevent the oil from evaporating during the cooking process.
Some oils are very spicy and have much more flavor than say a citrus oil. Some of the stronger oils are cinnamon, nutmeg, thyme and wintergreen. When adding strong and spicy oils to your dish, after cooking, simply dip a tooth-pick into the oil and then your prepared food with the tooth-pick.
Essential oils also make wonderful and aromatic teas. One of my favorite blends is one drop of Roman Chamomile combined with one drop of Lavender in a teaspoon of rice milk and a cup of warm water. It makes the perfect night-time blend to help me unwind and transition from my busy day to my peaceful quiet time just before bed.
Sweet dreams!
